At the Somerset Chamber we have developed a business start-up programme which will help you to:-
- Understand the challenges and benefits of starting and running a business
- Gain an overview of what is involved in starting and running a business
- Decide what you want your business to give you
- An understanding of sales, marketing and social media
- Identify who your customers are and how to keep them coming back
- Explore different options for financing your business
- Understand your legal obligations in starting and running the business
At the end of the programme you will be able to make an informed decision on whether going into business is right for you.
You will have achieved:
• Your first draft Business Plan for the business that will become a vital tool for driving the business forward, monitoring progress and gaining investment from external parties.
• Access to a dedicated tutor to mentor and support the entrepreneur through some of the early decisions.
• Develop an instant network of peers with whom to do business, provide support and peer mentor.
• Membership of the Somerset Chamber of Commerce “family” to help with business networking and access to customers.
• Signposting to additional resources provided by a range of agencies and other organisations.
The workshops are friendly and informal creating a relaxed yet professional atmosphere in which to learn. Based on a proven group learning approach, you will work in learning groups of between 10 and 12 individuals remaining together for the duration of the programme. This will enable the group to compare their experiences and issues with others in a similar situation to theirs, so in order to get the full benefit please be prepared to participate.
