Small Firms Enterprise Development Initiative Ltd

Get Mentoring is an initiative, launched in November 2011, which aims to recruit, train and deploy 10,000 business people from the small, medium and micro business communities to provide differing levels of business mentor support to new and growing businesses.

Potential mentors will be required to complete a short training course which is designed to help the learners reflect on their current skills, experience and knowledge and it could be useful to a mentee(s). The training sessions are full of information and practical activities, including a workbook learners can take away for future reference.

Those that complete the course receive free membership of the Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurship (IoEE) and are listed via mentorsme.co.uk, a national web portal that provides a single point of access to mentoring services.

Trained mentors must be willing to provide at least one hour a month to free mentoring.

Training sessions are running across the UK and via distance learning from November 2011 to April 2012.

Get Mentoring is a public/private partnership, grant assisted by BIS and run by SFEDI (Small Firms Enterprise Development Initiative).
