Newcastle Science City is the organisation responsible for delivering Venturefest North East, in conjunction with its event partners. A partnership between Newcastle University and Newcastle City Council, Newcastle Science City is responsible for maximising the North East’s scientific potential.

This is achieved through a variety of activities, including raising global awareness of the region’s scientific and innovation expertise, developing of a close-knit scientific community, and encouraging more people to work in scientific industries by ensuring business and community engagement in the STEM education (science, technology, engineering and maths) agenda. Key to its remit is creating and supporting innovative high-growth businesses through its business support programme. The programme aims to help businesses to identify their growth potential, find and develop solutions to market opportunities and access new markets.

Integral to the aims of Newcastle Science City is the delivery of Science Central, one of the UK’s largest city centre development projects. The development will create a landmark, new urban quarter in Newcastle set to become a hub for scientific business, research and innovation.
