Federation of Small Businesses - West Yorkshire

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) is the UK’s largest campaigning pressure group which promotes and protects the interests of self-employed individuals and owners of small firms. Formed in 1974, the FSB has 200,000 members across 33 FSB Regions and 194 FSB Branches. The FSB is non-profit-making and non-party political.

Events and Networking in West Yorkshire

The FSB West Yorkshire Region has around 5,500 members. We have a Branch in each of the five local authority areas of Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield. Throughout the year, each Branch holds a monthly event on a topic of interest to business owners and managers, usually with a Guest Speaker. Topics typically include marketing your business, changes in legislation and how the changes affect your business, and top tips for business managers. We also hold regular Trade Fairs and Meet the Buyer events. 

Our events usually take place in the evenings and food and refreshments are available which allow the attending businesses to chat and network with the Guest Speakers and each other. Our events are open to everyone who owns or manages a small business, or who is thinking about starting a business - you do not need to be a member of the FSB to attend an event and you will be given a warm Yorkshire welcome.          

Lobbying

Our lobbying arm – led by the Westminster Press and Parliamentary Office – applies pressure on MPs, Government and Whitehall, and puts the FSB viewpoint over to the media. The FSB also has Press and Parliamentary Offices in Glasgow, Cardiff and Belfast to lobby the devolved Assemblies. Our Development Managers in the FSB Regions, work alongside members to further our influence at a regional and local level.
