Cumbria Rural Enterprise Agency (CREA)

The Cumbria Rural Enterprise Agency Limited was incorporated on 1st December 1987, in Kendal, to help people who wanted to become self-employed in Eden and South Lakeland.

Over the years we have increased our portfolio of services offered throughout Cumbria and beyond and now operate from two modern business centres at Kendal and Redhills Penrith just off Junction 40 of the M6. The current projects and services include Business Advice (Start Up, Existing Businesses), Cumbria Farm Link, Business Mentoring, Rural Planning Facilitation Service, and Cumbria Business Environment Network.

CBEN is the environmental services division of Cumbria Rural Enterprise Agency and provides environmental help, advice and support, to all businesses.

At CBEN we deliver two projects to businesses in Cumbria:

  • The ENWORKS regional Resource Efficiency project that offers Small and Medium sized businesses free environmental support, helping you to identify resource and cost savings. If you are a larger business - non SME - we can still offer this service at a reasonable charge.
  • The CBEN Award schemes that offers a staged approach to implementing an Environmental Management System and will help you to promote your good environmental practices to your clients
